The 512.4 is listed at $30 for VF and $70 for XF.
Nice coins. I have a few similar in my melt bucket, not near in as nice condition. I might have to dig them out and take a closer look at them. |

fish em out of your melt bucket and post pics and if they are decent I will make you an offer. Anyhow, my dealer showed me a 18 century german coin that was wide as hell, like a couple mils wider than an SAE it seemed; one the front was a guy in a wig, on the back this gloriously detailed city landscape with a harbour and boats-- minted with incredible detail. I have not seen a lot of older coins in person so I was amazed by the detail. this was in MS condition too, slabbed by NCS, I think he said he wanted over a yard for it which puts it out of my humble budget. anyhow, my thought was, our contemporary American coin looks like absolute chump change compared to this, and I have to agree with the general concensus that the best American designs are by Weinmann and St Gaudens and the rest of them pretty much suck. I mean in the 18th century European nations were minting coins that were objets d'art for circulation, and now we have tiddlywinks made out of base metals. Like so much else time hasnt improved things. |
Re: german silver dollars - love'em
Anty, I think you're talking about silver thalers from central Europe. Those are some of the most beautiful coins minted.

I buy and sell coins locally. I do fish out the nice ones and sell them, but rarely get good grading coins. I am about to go to a refiner for a melt and threw some coins in. You are right in that they are probably worth looking at. The coins I get are usually just junk silver, but I find some interesting ones. Many however are pretty worn.
